The LEKMA Hospital has received pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and equipment from the 14th Chinese Medical Team to Ghana.

The products are intended to help two important projects: the Beautiful World Charity project and the minimally invasive surgery project (laparoscopic procedures).

The long-standing friendship between Ghana and China, which is based on respect for one another, cooperation, and a common goal of health equity, is being strengthened by this event.

The donation, which includes medications, medical devices, and equipment, would greatly improve healthcare delivery and strengthen our countries’ health cooperation, said Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, as he accepted the items.

He called on the LEKMA Hospital’s management, led by the skilled Dr. Akua Gyimah Asante, to make sure that the equipment is used efficiently, kept up to date, and fulfills its intended function in order to improve Ghanaians’ health.

In her introductory remarks, LEKMA Hospital Superintendent Dr. Akuah Gyimah Asante emphasized that the donation ceremony is a fresh example of the strength of global cooperation, goodwill, and a common dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery.

According to her, the donation will enhance the capacity to deliver high-quality care, guarantee safer procedures, shorten recuperation times, and improve patient outcomes.

Furthermore, the drugs would improve client treatment continuity and lessen the strain on vital drug suppliers.

Since 2009, China has sent 14 batches of medical teams to Ghana, with over 100 committed experts offering voluntary, necessary healthcare services, according to H.E. Tong Defa, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana.

Beyond providing clinical care, these teams have promoted knowledge sharing and assisted Ghanaian health professionals’ training.

He underlined that even if there might not be as much medical equipment available, it will still make a big difference in improving Ghanaian hospitals’ capacity to diagnose and treat patients.

This donation is just one more concrete way that the Chinese government is supporting the Ghanaian government and people.
