The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been urged to select Asunafo South MP Eric Opoku as a running mate for the 2024 presidential election. Former President John Mahama has replied to these suggestions.
Notwithstanding the role’s significance, Mr. Mahama emphasized that the party has developed processes for choosing the best candidate.
While waiting for the Council of Elders, National executives, and Presidential candidate to make their decision, he advocated calm and reassured the public that the process will start the following year.
When Mr. Mahama visited the Ahafo region recently, he informed the traditional leaders and their people, “What I will say is that, just like custom has it, our party also has processes to select candidates for various roles”.
“It is the presidential candidate, national executives, and council of elders who come together to select a running mate,” he told them. He added: “But that process will start next year, so, keep praying for such a time.”
