Mahama is urged by opposition MPs to fire Sam George after his clash with DStv.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus, which represents the minority in parliament, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to fire Sam George, the minister of communications, digital technology, and innovation, for allegedly engaging in dishonest behaviour and handling negotiations with MultiChoice over DStv subscription fees poorly.

Charles Owiredu, the Deputy Ranking Member on the Communications Committee, contested the minister’s recent assertion that he had negotiated a 30% cut in DStv costs during a news conference in Accra on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

He added that MultiChoice later revised the announcement, emphasising that the discount was a temporary promotional deal rather than a permanent cut.
