President John Dramani Mahama is set to join African heads of state, business executives, investors and innovators at the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum, taking place from October 2 to 4, 2026, in the historic city of Alamein on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.

The three-day event is being established as a permanent African Business Forum, with plans for the gathering to be held every two years in Egypt.

Alamein Africa Forum to Focus on Investment and Economic Growth

The Alamein Africa Forum is expected to become a major platform for discussions on Africa’s economic transformation, bringing together political leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and development partners.

The forum will focus on connecting established sectors driving African economic growth with emerging industries that are expected to shape the continent’s economic future.

The event is being jointly organised by the Government of Egypt, African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), African Union (AU) and AUDA-NEPAD.

More than 20 heads of state and government representatives are expected to participate, alongside business leaders, financial institutions, investors, bankers and development organisations.

Ghana Delegation Led by President Mahama

President Mahama will lead Ghana’s delegation to the forum following his recent international engagements promoting Ghana as an attractive destination for business and investment.

On September 23, 2026, the President declared that Ghana is open for business in New York after participating in the ceremonial closing bell ceremony at the Nasdaq Stock Market.

The Ghanaian delegation to the Alamein Africa Forum will include Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.

Other members include Augustus Goosie Tanoh, Head and Presidential Advisor for Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, and Colonel Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Ghana’s Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahel States.

Key representatives from Ghana’s private sector are also expected to participate in the forum.

Forum to Shape Africa’s Investment and Development Agenda

The Alamein Africa Forum will bring together policymakers, political leaders and business stakeholders from across Africa to discuss strategies for advancing the continent’s economic development and investment agenda.

The platform is expected to support efforts to align government policies with investment priorities, strengthen partnerships and improve access to financing for major development projects.

Discussions are also expected to highlight the role of the African private sector in accelerating economic transformation, infrastructure development, job creation and intra-African trade.

Private Sector Key to Agenda 2063

The forum is expected to reinforce calls for greater private-sector participation in the implementation of Agenda 2063, the African Union’s long-term development framework for transforming the continent.

Private businesses and investors are seen as important partners in translating Africa’s development ambitions into tangible projects, including infrastructure, employment opportunities, industrialisation and value-added trade.

The Alamein Africa Forum 2026 therefore provides an important platform for African governments, investors and businesses to explore new partnerships and financing opportunities aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth across the continent.
