A team from the Roshelle Brago Boakye (ROBB) Foundation, an NGO devoted to promoting awareness and support for people with Down syndrome, was cordially received by Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

In preparation for World Down Syndrome Day, which is celebrated worldwide on March 21st, the delegation, which included parents and their children with Down syndrome, aimed to work with the Ministry.

Founded in 2016, the ROBB Foundation unites volunteers and medical professionals to advocate for change and offer cutting-edge services that help people with Down syndrome live happy, full lives.

In line with President John Mahama’s goal of making sure that no one is left behind, the Minister underlined the government’s dedication to inclusivity during the meeting. She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to protecting the rights of people with disabilities and lowering their vulnerability.

The Minister said, “Count me as your key partner in ensuring that persons with Down syndrome are protected.”

The Minister received a petition from the ROBB Foundation detailing short-term and long-term plans to improve support networks for people with Down syndrome.

The Minister promised to examine the suggestions with pertinent parties and take them into account when the Ministry makes decisions.

On March 21, 2025, the Ministry expressed sympathy by announcing that it would be attending the upcoming World Down Syndrome Day festivities hosted by the ROBB Foundation.

This partnership demonstrates a common dedication to strengthening support networks and advocating for the rights of people with Down syndrome in Ghana.

Policies that increase the representation of people with disabilities in decision-making processes and guarantee accessibility in public areas are part of the government’s continuous efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

These programs are part of a larger effort to build an inclusive society in which all people can prosper, regardless of their abilities.
