Ministry of Education Condemns Violence at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Orders Immediate Investigation

The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned the violent incident that occurred at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the act as unacceptable, criminal, and a serious violation of discipline within Ghana’s education sector.

In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized that violence and lawlessness have no place in Ghanaian schools and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safe and secure learning environments for students, teachers, and school administrators.

The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to launch an immediate investigation into the incident. The GES has also been instructed to identify all individuals involved and apply the appropriate disciplinary measures in line with the regulations governing senior high schools and the country’s education system.

The Ministry of Education stressed that discipline remains a key pillar of quality education and warned that any acts of violence, indiscipline, or misconduct in educational institutions will not be tolerated.

The Ministry further assured the public that it will continue working closely with the Ghana Education Service, school authorities, and other relevant state agencies to strengthen discipline, protect school leaders and students, and ensure that schools across Ghana remain safe, peaceful, and conducive environments for effective teaching and learning.
