The University of Ghana (UG) has directed undergraduate students who completed the 2025/2026 academic year with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 to withdraw from their academic programmes.
In a notice published on Thursday, October 22, the university’s Academic Affairs Directorate explained that the decision follows Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), which sets out the minimum academic requirements for students to progress to the next level.
Under the regulations, students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 1.00 and meet their respective schools’ or departments’ academic requirements to continue their studies. The university stressed that its regulations do not provide for academic probation for students who fall below this threshold.
Affected students have been advised to check their academic results through the university’s Management Information System (MIS Web) and initiate the withdrawal process via the Student and Staff (STS) Portal at sts.ug.edu.gh/services using their Student ID and PIN. They should then select the “Withdrawal Request” option.
The university noted that some schools and departments may initiate the withdrawal process on behalf of affected students.
Students who require clarification about their academic status or the withdrawal procedure are encouraged to contact their respective College Academic Offices. The Careers and Counselling Directorate is also available to provide guidance and support to students affected by the decision.
