Ghana’s Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has engaged the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft, in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in education, with a major focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The meeting explored ways Ghana and Germany can deepen their educational partnership to improve skills development, expand vocational training opportunities, and prepare young people for the changing demands of the labour market. The discussions highlighted the importance of international collaboration in building a skilled workforce capable of meeting the needs of industries and supporting Ghana’s economic growth.
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu emphasised the need for strategic partnerships to advance Ghana’s education sector, improve learning outcomes, and enhance employment opportunities for graduates. He noted that strengthening technical and vocational education is essential to equipping young people with practical, industry-relevant skills that can help them secure jobs, establish businesses, and contribute to national development.

The engagement also underscores Ghana’s commitment to collaborating with international development partners to improve the quality of education and expand access to skills-based training. Germany remains a potential strategic partner in supporting initiatives that promote vocational education, workforce development, and sustainable employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
Through continued Ghana-Germany education cooperation, both countries aim to explore programmes that equip students and young professionals with relevant technical competencies, address skills gaps in the labour market, and improve the competitiveness of Ghana’s workforce.
The renewed focus on TVET is expected to contribute to youth empowerment, job creation, industrial development, and long-term economic transformation as Ghana works towards building a productive, innovative, and skilled workforce.
