The new school selection standards for applicants taking the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been formally released by the Ministry of Education.

No headmaster or teacher is allowed to fill out school selection papers on behalf of pupils without the express consent of parents or guardians, stressed Dr. Clement Apaak, the deputy minister for education. The purpose of this strategy is to guarantee openness and encourage increased family participation in their children’s educational choices.

It is anticipated that the new rules will benefit students and empower them to take charge of their education and make wise decisions for the future.

Ms. Benita Sena Okity Duah, the Free SHS Coordinator, encouraged parents and guardians to actively participate in the school selection process.

She pointed out that all parties involved must fully support and participate in this crucial time in the academic careers of BECE applicants.

In order to guarantee a seamless and effective placement process, the ministry encourages all parties involved to follow the updated criteria and reiterates its commitment to providing fair access to high-quality education.
