The National Investigations Bureau’s (NIB) alleged attempt to intimidate Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament and the member of Parliament for Assin South, has been strongly denounced by the Minority Caucus in Parliament and some members of the New Patriotic Party.
Following recent accusations by the MP about two strange planes at Kotoka International Airport that he claimed were carrying cash and narcotics, NIB investigators broke into the lawmaker’s private residence in an attempt to issue an arrest warrant.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the leader of the minority caucus in Parliament, told the media on Wednesday, April 9, following an unsuccessful effort to arrest the MP at his Accra home, that his team would not be intimidated and would stand behind their colleague.
He said the NIB’s action was politically driven and intended to quell criticism in Parliament.

He further emphasized that due procedure must be followed and that the minority is still dedicated to guaranteeing accountability and openness in the investigation of the claims made by the Assin South MP.
Additionally, he urged everyone to stay vigilant and back initiatives to maintain justice and equity.
Several prominent members of the party, including the party’s director of communications, Richard Ahiagbah; national organizer, Henry Nana Boakye; general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong; and a few members of parliament and party supporters, made sure that Rev. John Ntim Fordjour’s home was secure.
