In the first three quarters of 2025, Nigerian investors legally contributed US$103.61 million to Ghana’s economy, according to new figures from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).

Due in major part to a notable increase in capital inflows during the second quarter of the year, the numbers demonstrate a robust and expanding Nigerian investment footprint in Ghana.

Nigerian investment activity was comparatively low during the first quarter, which ran from January to March. With just three registered projects totalling US$0.60 million, Nigeria is well behind established powers like China.

But in the second quarter, the pattern drastically changed.

Five projects worth an estimated US$102.01 million were registered by Nigerian investors between April and June. Nigeria overtook all other source nations, including China and the United Arab Emirates, in Ghana’s investment value rankings because to this single-quarter achievement.

The third quarter, which ran from July to September, saw a slowdown in investment activity. One new project worth US$1 million was registered.

As a result, Nigerian investment inflows totalled US$103.61 million throughout the course of the nine-month period.

According to the GIPC data, Nigerian involvement in Ghana’s economy is progressively shifting from trade and retail to higher-value, boardroom-level initiatives supported by significant finance.

According to analysts, the trend emphasises Nigeria’s growing importance as a major regional source of foreign direct investment and indicates growing investor confidence in Ghana’s business climate.
