The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has refuted the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) claim that the party is conspiring with the Electoral Commission to improperly add the name of an ineligible candidate to the Assin North voters list.
The assertions, in the party’s opinion, are untrue, without merit, and made with the intention of misleading Ghanaians. The NPP emphasized that the party has not taken any such step that would put the country’s democratic successes in jeopardy.
They clarified that the party’s parliamentary primaries for Assin-North had not yet been held in order to choose the party’s parliamentary candidate for the by-election.
The NDC’s ability to predict our parliamentary candidate in advance and their claim that we are conspiring with the EC to improperly add his name to the Assin North register are consequently unbelievable.
To serve the residents of Assin North, the party is reportedly concentrating on choosing a skilled and competent candidate “who carries no legal baggage like the NDC’s Mr. James Gyakye Quayson.”
“The NPP wishes to reassure Ghanaians, particularly the people of Assin North, that it is committed to upholding and defending the 1992 constitution,” the statement’s conclusion read.
