According to Sammy Gyamfi, the communications officer for the National Democratic Congress, the voters in Assin North will support James Gyakye Quayson, an NDC candidate for parliament, and justice in the upcoming election.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has been informed in writing of the vacancy in the Assin North Constituency by the Clerk to Parliament, Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah.
The date of the by-election for Assin North was announced by the Electoral Commissioner, Jean Adukwei Mensah, in a release dated May 31, 2023.
She stated that from Monday, June 12, 2023, to Wednesday, June 14, 2023, between the hours of 9:00am to 2:00pm to 5:00pm on each day, nominations will be accepted at the Assin North District Office of the Commission.
Each candidate must pay a filing fee of 10,000 Ghana cedis (GHC10,000.00).
The NDC Communication Officer expressed his confidence that the NDC candidate will win the by-election in a statement on the complete Supreme Court decision, which was released on Monday, June 5, 2023.
“As a wise and impartial Ghanaian, choose for yourself whether or not the Supreme Court’s decision to void Hon. Quayson’s election was just.
In light of this, I’m delighted that on June 27, 2023, the noble people of Assin North, who hold sovereignty, will have the chance to finally bring this matter to a just conclusion. Having been on the ground and interacting with several of them over the past two days, I am confident that they won’t fail. They will vote for Hon. James Gyakye Quayson as a result. They will vote for JUSTICE AND ACTUAL DEVELOPMENT, I am confident of that, he said.
