Otiko Afisah Djabah, a prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has harshly criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for being indifferent to the situation of the average Ghanaian.

The former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection claims that despite the widespread uproar, the government has been lax in tackling the current economic issues over time.

Otiko claimed that when Ghanaians chose to participate in the 2020 elections, they placed their lives and destiny in the hands of the NPP government. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government to stand up and make better decisions.

“I am very angry with my government. That issues like this, in terms of the caterers, prompt action is not being taken,” she said.

“When 1 million people give their votes to you, you must do the right thing by them. This is not about politics but the development of the people, with the people. Giving them the necessary information. Where you cannot meet them, talk to them. They are human beings; they will understand because the NPP is a listening government. These are serious times, and we need serious decisions to be taken.”

“Food prices are like that all over the world; it’s not only Ghana but why are you a leader? You are a leader to solve the problems,” she added.

Otiko’s remarks come after a significant uproar from several caterers in the Ashanti Region who complained bitterly about the delay in paying their debts and the 97 pesewas given to kids.
