For the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference taking place in Accra, speakers of parliament from Commonwealth nations have arrived in the nation.
Speakers from 27 Commonwealth nations have already arrived in Accra with their delegations, and more are anticipated to do so before today, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, when the formal opening will take place.
The host speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, who doubles as the president of the CPA, welcomed them at the airport and promised them warm hospitality and an unforgettable stay in Ghana.
The 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, which got underway on Saturday, September 30th, is scheduled to wrap up at the Accra International Conference Center on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Speakers and presiding officers, lawmakers, clerks, and parliamentary stakeholders from 56 national legislatures and 107 subnational branches of the commonwealth are present at the conference.
On Wednesday, October 4, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, will give the keynote presentation to formally kick off the gathering.
“The Commonwealth Chater, 10 years on, values of principles for Parliaments to uphold” is the conference’s theme.
It will give member governments the chance to address numerous important issues that their citizens face, with a focus on global terrorism.
Speaker Bagbin said the conference also gives Ghana the chance to display its rich culture and tourist business during a news conference on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
He exhorted the populace to demonstrate Ghana’s legendary hospitality at the conference.
