Alexander Afenyo Markin, the Majority Leader, has declared a new Parliamentary calendar.

This is in response to the Minority’s intention to abstain from parliamentary sessions on days when Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, their leader, is in court. Tuesdays and Thursdays after 3 p.m. will now be when the House meets.

Currently on trial for his alleged involvement in a botched ambulance contract while serving as deputy minister of finance is Dr. Ato Forson. This major change in the legislative schedule was brought about by the Minority’s decision to abstain from sessions during his court dates.

“Mr. Speaker, there is an arrangement that on Tuesdays and Thursdays we sit after 3 pm. As a result of that, questions will receive written answers, which answers will be published for members, so that arrangement is in place,” Mr Afenyo Markin said

“So no member will lose an opportunity to have answers to questions because of the late sitting.” he added:

Afenyo Markin, the majority leader, gave assurances that the new structure will meet the demands of every member.
