Parts of Accra’s Nima Market were destroyed by fire after Ghana National Fire Service firemen battled a fire there for several hours.
In a brief statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, the Service reported the event and said that the market is currently experiencing intense firefighting operations.
It is currently unknown what caused the fire, how much damage was done, or whether there were any casualties.
Firefighters are currently on the site trying to contain the fire and stop it from spreading to other buildings and stores.
As firefighting operations continue, more updates are anticipated.
