The administration of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, has vehemently denounced remarks made by attorney and broadcaster Serwaa Amihere in which the school was purportedly called a “breeding ground for homosexuals.”

The comments were deemed inaccurate, careless, and extremely offensive by PRESEC.

The school stated that it has taken “serious note” of the allegations in a statement dated January 17, 2026, emphasising that they unfairly disparage its students and damage the standing of one of Ghana’s most reputable secondary schools.

“Management unequivocally condemns this statement. It is false, reckless, and deeply offensive,” the statement said, adding that such remarks amount to a careless generalisation that aims to stigmatise students.

PRESEC stressed that it is a Presbyterian mission school that was established over 80 years ago. It is based on Christian principles and is subject to both national laws and the doctrines of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. It stated that it is a “gross misrepresentation” to claim that the school promotes behaviour that goes against these values.

Citing accomplishments like its several National Science and Maths Quiz wins as proof of a culture of diligence and character development, the school emphasised its long-standing dedication to academic excellence, moral training, discipline, and leadership.

Such accusations, according to management, are not only false but also potentially destructive, subjecting students to mockery and psychological pain while harming an organisation that has made a substantial contribution to the advancement of the country.

PRESEC reaffirmed its commitment to high standards of academic and moral excellence while thanking parents, alumni, students, and the general public for their ongoing support.

It emphasised that attempts to involve the school in current national discussions on LGBTQI issues, particularly through what it called defamatory remarks, will not be accepted.

PRESEC’s primary goals of providing high-quality education, upholding discipline, developing character, and preparing young men for responsible leadership were reiterated in the statement’s conclusion.
