During a working visit to Conakry for Guinea’s President Mamadi Doumbouya’s investiture, Vice President Prof Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang underlined the importance of revitalising Ghana and Guinea’s deep-rooted Pan-African connections.

The visit, which included a moving tour of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s former home, served as a reminder of the two countries’ distinct historical ties.

Following his fall in 1966, Dr. Nkrumah was appointed Co-President of Guinea in a strong show of African solidarity and unity.

Following the tour, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang emphasised the common past as a foundation for future collaborations.

“The bond between Ghana and Guinea is not merely diplomatic; it is forged in the very struggle for African dignity and integration, we must rekindle this spirit of cooperation to tackle contemporary challenges and advance the cause of African development and unity,” she stated.

The Vice President led Ghana’s team at the investiture ceremony, which brought together African leaders and other representatives.

Additionally, the tour offered a chance to interact with the Ghanaian diaspora in Guinea.

Seidu Osman Fisher, General Secretary of the Ghanaian Community in Guinea, congratulated Vice President Opoku-Agyemang for her excellent leadership as Chair of the Police Council and commended the Ghanaian government for the present economic trajectory.

“The Ghanaian community here is proud of the direction of our homeland and particularly of the Vice President’s dedicated service,” Mr. Fisher said.
