President John Dramani Mahama concluded his State Visit to the Republic of Belarus with a meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko, followed by bilateral talks between the two delegations aimed at increasing collaboration in critical sectors of their respective economies.

Three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed as a result of the engagements, which significantly improved ties between Ghana and Belarus.

The accords improve agricultural cooperation, fortify interaction between the two nations’ chambers of commerce, and create a Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

President Mahama reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to practical cooperation based on respect and mutual benefit during a joint press conference, characterising the visit as a historic time in bilateral ties.

He emphasised Belarus as a vital partner in mechanisation, technology transfer, research, and investment while underlining agriculture as a key component of Ghana’s development plan.

Additionally, he highlighted increased chances for cooperation in trade, industry, education, and renewable energy as important forces behind sustainable economic growth.

The accords, according to President Mahama, would increase institutional and private sector involvement, open up investment opportunities, foster innovation, and generate jobs for both nations’ inhabitants.

He pointed out that by converting common goals into concrete development results, the visit paves the way for a new chapter in Ghana-Belarus ties.
