The Constitution Review Committee held its first stakeholder engagement today, hosted by President John Dramani Mahama.

Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, the chair of the committee, met with the president to get his opinion on the constitution review and to find out what he thought needed to be amended.

During the interaction, the Committee also used the opportunity to inform the President about their progress to date and areas in which they required more help.

President Mahama promised his government’s continuing support and expressed gratitude and pleasure with the work that has been done thus far on the constitution revision.

The President pointed out that in order to improve Ghana’s governance structures, several difficult issues needed to be amended, including the nomination of ministers from Parliament, the election of MMDCEs, and the emoluments of Article 71 office holders.
