President John Dramani Mahama has mourned the demise of Pope Francis.
President Mahama praised the Pope in a statement on Monday, stating that “generations to come will be inspired by his legacy of compassion, humility, and dedication to social justice.”
“The world woke up to the sad news of Pope Francis’ passing,” the president stated.
“On behalf of my family and the People of Ghana, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Roman Catholic Church and all Catholic faithful in Ghana during this time of profound grief,” President Mahama stated.
“I fondly remember visiting the Vatican with my wife, Lordina, where we had the distinct honour of meeting Pope Francis.”
Pope Francis’ leadership and support of the underprivileged and disenfranchised struck a profound chord, according to President Mahama.
