Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, has examined a shipment of 24,534 medical devices that would be distributed around the nation in anticipation of the start of the government’s free primary healthcare program.
The government-purchased equipment is anticipated to be supplied to medical facilities across the country in order to enhance service delivery and expand access to necessary healthcare.
Among these equipment are the following:
1. Baby incubators, radiant warmers, and oxygen concentrators for resuscitating newborns after delivery.
2. X ray Machines
3. Vital sign monitors for checking blood pressure, temperature, etc.
4. Glucometers for measuring blood sugar levels for diabetes screening.
5. Patient monitors.
6. Infusion devices.
7. Laboratory analysers, etc.
8. Delivery beds.
9. Hospital beds
10. Ultra sound

The intervention is a crucial component of initiatives to guarantee that all Ghanaians have easy access to primary healthcare services.
The Minister claims that the distribution effort is intended to improve government hospitals’ ability to provide high-quality care by retooling them.
He pointed out that the program demonstrates the government’s commitment to creating a robust healthcare system that places an emphasis on early detection and preventive care.
It is projected that the equipment rollout will greatly increase primary healthcare delivery efficiency, opening the door for the free primary healthcare policy to be successfully implemented.
