The government has declared that the price of cocoa will be lowered to GH¢41,392 per tonne, or GH¢2,587 per bag, for the rest of the 2025–2026 growing season.

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the Producer Price Review Committee’s (PPRC) decision will go into effect.

On Thursday, February 12, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the finance minister, told reporters that the decision was based on the state of the global cocoa market.

According to him, the change reflects current cocoa prices worldwide and aims to boost business confidence.

The Minister added that the new rate is anticipated to provide instant liquidity to the cocoa value chain, assisting in accelerating payments to farmers who have faced delays in recent months and relieving farm-level financial strains.

He pointed out that the pricing change is a component of larger measures aimed at guaranteeing the cocoa sector’s long-term viability in Ghana. According to him, the action is required to stabilise the industry, improve its financial stability, and guarantee better results for cocoa growers.

Accordingly, he stated, “As a result of that, the PPRC thereby announces that effective today, Thursday 12th February 2026, the new producer price for the remainder of the 2025–2026 crop season will now be 41,392 Ghana Cedis per ton and 2,587 Ghana Cedis per bag,”

Compared to the initial price stated at the beginning of the 2025–2026 crop season, the new pricing represents a downward revision.

In dollar terms, the producer price increased by 62.58 percent to US$5,040 per tonne.

That is equivalent to GH¢51,660 per tonne or GH¢3,228.75 each bag in cedi.
