By Hon Dr Frank Amoakohene
I have been briefed on the unfortunate and avoidable confrontations that occurred between some suspected illegal miners at Jacobu and the Ghana Police Service, which have regrettably resulted in the death of one person and injuries to others.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and sympathise with all persons affected by this incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured, and I wish them a speedy recovery.
I wish to strongly urge all citizens to at all times cooperate fully with law enforcement officers and not disregard lawful orders.

Citizens should under no circumstances confront the police or engage in actions that threaten public safety, as has been seen in the circulating videos.
I also wish to commend the Ghana Police Service for their continued efforts in maintaining law and order.
Government remains fully committed to supporting the Police and all security agencies in the execution of their lawful duties to protect lives, property, and public peace.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and I assure the public that the matter will be pursued to its logical conclusion. Any persons found to have acted unlawfully will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

I appeal to community leaders, youth groups, and all stakeholders to support efforts to restore calm and to ensure that lawful processes are respected at all times.
May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.
