The approach, according to Mr. Perry Okudzeto, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, who made the announcement at a media event in Accra, aims to stop the destruction of forests for the production of charcoal and firewood and to make LPG available to all Ghanaians, even those living in remote areas.

He said that after it was implemented, the model, which had been in development for some years, would guarantee that by 2030, 50% of Ghanaians would have access to the good.

The Deputy CEO stated that several lessons were learned for the roll-out of the new system nationwide following a pilot roll-out in the Ashanti, Eastern, and Northern Regions.

He assured that all safety precautions were put in place for a successful roll-out and stated that issues initially highlighted by distributors had also been resolved after numerous consultative sessions with them.

He claimed that if the scheme was adopted, LPG consumption would rise and more people would switch to LPG as their primary energy source instead of charcoal and wood.

Media executives and editors from both public and private media organizations attended the workshop.
