Shalimar Abbuissi, the New Force Spokesperson, was re-arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, following the dismissal of charges by state prosecutors.
State prosecutors dismissed all of the accusations against her in court on Tuesday.
Following a comprehensive investigation, the court ordered the National Investigations Bureau to return Ms. Abuissi’s iPhone 13 Pro, which had been taken during her detention, as no evidence of guilt had been discovered.
However, the Ghana Immigration Service detained her again shortly after she left the courtroom, claiming that Ms. Sharlimar Abbuissi’s resident visa had been cancelled.
Her continual presence in Ghana is prohibited by the Immigration Service, and as a result, she will be deported later today.
Her attorneys, under the direction of Francis Xavier Sosu, have charged that the immigration agency is preparing to deport their client.
“We have filed an action in the Human Rights court against them. For all other processes, they may want to take for purposes of either trying to remove her from the country or not. I am hoping that by the close of the day or by afternoon they will all be served with those actions and they will appear in court to come and answer for what they are doing.
“Because we knew that there is a likelihood that they will be behaving in the manner they are behaving. And this is so arbitrary and this should not be tolerated in any democracy,” he said.
