The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has taken action to address recent media allegations that suggested Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) was expanding its revenue assurance operations.
SML’s services in the upstream petroleum and mineral industries were suspended in April 2024 pending additional review, according to a press release released by the GRA on Wednesday.
Media claims that SML had announced expanding its supervision to include Ghana’s vital upstream solid minerals and petroleum industries prompted the clarification.
During a ceremony celebrating the company’s fifth anniversary, SML said that GRA had requested its services in the upstream sector due to the downstream sector’s advancements.
GRA emphasized, however, that it had not revoked its previous direction and that SML had not been given any instructions to start or continue operations under the 2023 Consolidated Revenue Assurance Services Contract pertaining to these particular sectors.
The Authority informed the public and stakeholders in the mineral and petroleum sectors of its unwavering commitment to protecting national revenue by upholding the values of honesty and openness.
