Daniel Nii Laryea, the referee who handled the match between Nigeria and Morocco, has maintained that his choices that day were unaffected by the banter between Ghana and Nigeria.
He claims that the only way he officiated the game was by following the proper football regulations.
He feels that the best squad of the day prevailed since he gave it his all.
“The AFCON is the biggest stage in Africa, and it is the second-ranked tournament in the world after the World Cup and the Euros,” Daniel Nii Laryea told the reporters upon arriving in Ghana from Morocco.
“As a referee, you have a great opportunity when you are given that stage because that is what we have in Africa.”
“For me, I just do my refereeing. I don’t listen to what goes on on social media or whatever is going on. We just do the laws of the game,” he said.
Daniel Nii Laryea revealed that he plans to use his skills throughout the years to assist the upcoming generation of referees.
