Mrs. Patricia Appiagyei, the Deputy Majority Leader, has stated that Parliament will resume Monday sessions for the remainder of the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session starting on Monday, July 15.
The House would now hold meetings on Mondays in addition to its regular Tuesday through Friday schedule. This would allow the House to finish up some unfinished business.
Presenting the Statement for the week ending on Friday, July 12, Mrs. Appiagyei stated that the Business Committee of Parliament had suggested that the House start daily sittings at 1000 hours prompt and hold extended sittings beginning with the week under consideration due to the volume of business pending before the House for consideration.
In addition to the prolonged sitting, she said the Committee wanted to inform Members that the House would now be scheduled to meet on Mondays, beginning on Monday, July 15.
It is anticipated that the aforementioned procedures will facilitate the prompt consideration of unfinished business prior to the Meeting’s adjournment.
Mrs. Appiagyei stated that nine ministers were scheduled to appear before the House the next week to respond to 72 questions, of which 63 were oral and nine were urgent.
The Business Committee, she added, requested the Committees having referrals to expedite work on the matter and submit their reports for consideration by the House, given the short amount of sitting days left before adjourning sine die.
