Public transport fares across Ghana are set to increase by 20% effective Friday, August 8, 2025, following a directive from the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) in collaboration with major transport unions.

The fare hike, according to a joint statement signed by the Council’s General Secretary, Emmanuel Ohene-Yeboah, and Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Tanko, is in line with the Administrative Arrangement on Public Transport Fares and reflects the growing cost pressures on commercial transport operators.
