After more than two months with Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Jude Okoye, the older brother and former manager of the renowned musical duo P-Square, has finally been released from detention.

His younger brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), had a particularly joyous reaction to the news, taking to Instagram to commemorate the event.

Rudeboy commented, “After more than two months, Jude is finally out. Finally, all of their attempts to thwart his bail have failed. @judeengees, welcome home, brother. Also, happy birthday.

Despite being joyous, the tone of the message suggested that there would be conflict in the Okoye family, especially with Jude’s estranged twin brother, Peter Okoye.

Following his arraignment by the EFCC on major money laundering accusations involving $1 million, ₦1.38 billion, and €34,537.59, Jude was released after weeks of legal back and forth.

Jude had previously been granted bail by a Lagos court, which was presided over by Justice Alexander Owoeye, provided that he produced two sureties, each worth ₦100 million. Additionally, the court prohibited him from leaving Nigeria.

Sources claim that all requirements have now been fulfilled and he has formally returned to his family, despite the fact that he was temporarily arrested again soon after being released on bond.

The release of Jude Okoye is a major development in a well-known case that has engulfed Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
