Despite Philip Appiah Kubi’s recent exclusion from representing the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), the Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed that the order on the presidential ballot for the general elections in 2024 will not alter.
At an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on November 12, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced this decision.
She underlined that changing the ballot order at this point would complicate logistical planning and cause needless inconveniences, both of which the EC is eager to avoid.
In order to guarantee a seamless and prompt electoral process, the EC has committed to preserving the original ballot structure, with the presidential ballot printing being 90% complete.
The EC pointed out that changing the ballots at this time might cause the Commission’s already extensive preparations to drag on.
Philip Appiah Kubi, the GFP’s candidate, was first proposed to succeed Akua Donkor, the party’s founder and previous presidential contender, who died on October 28.
However, Kubi was disqualified from the contest after the EC discovered errors in his nomination.
