The visit was one of the Ambassador’s first engagements after taking up his duties in Ghana. Ms. Mia Kamarainen, an adviser at the Norwegian Embassy, and Ms. Ingrid Skjolaas, the deputy head of mission, accompanied Dr. Kvistad.

With an emphasis on enhancing collaboration between Ghana and Norway, the meeting’s discussions focused on topics of shared interest in the fisheries and aquaculture industry.

Opportunities for collaboration in promoting marine resource protection, sustainable fisheries management, and the growth of the blue economy were also discussed.

The group was cordially received by Hon. Emelia Arthur, who also thanked Norway for its continuous assistance with Ghana’s marine and fisheries projects.

She listed some of the Ministry’s top priorities, such as advancing the blue economy, putting the new Fisheries Act into effect, and continuing reforms meant to guarantee the sustainable use of marine resources.

She stated that in order to strengthen Ghana’s fishing industry’s capabilities, encourage innovation, and raise the standard of living for fishing communities, the Ministry is still dedicated to forming strategic alliances with development partners like Norway.

On his part, Ambassador Kvistad reiterated Norway’s dedication to enhancing bilateral ties and aiding Ghana’s initiatives in fisheries development and sustainable ocean governance.
