The payment for free dialysis care for a few vulnerable patient categories for the month of June has been made public by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The Authority confirmed to the fact that GH¢587,236.00 has been set aside for this coverage in total.

The NHIA reaffirmed its commitment to helping vulnerable patients in need of dialysis treatment by promising to secure quick payment for this coverage in a press statement released on Sunday, June 30, and signed by CEO Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye.

The NHIA further stated that hospitals will oversee the distribution of the allotted funds and guarantee that patients who paid for dialysis out of pocket in June will receive full reimbursement in accordance with the established rates for various patient groups.

According to the announcement, from June to December 2024, people 60 years of age and younger will receive eight free dialysis sessions each month under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

In addition, two free dialysis treatments per month will be provided to patients between the ages of 19 and 59 who are receiving care at KATH, CCTH, ENRH, HTH, and TTH, excluding KBTH.
