Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the organizer of the Democracy Hub demonstration, has refuted rumors that he is in hiding and that the police have proclaimed him wanted.
The claims were described as “baseless and misleading” by Barker-Vormawor.
Police reported on Sunday, September 22, that 42 demonstrators from the Democracy Hub group had been taken into custody. According to a police statement, Barker-Vormawor, one of the demonstrators’ leaders, is the target of a manhunt.
Nevertheless, he rejected the police’s pursuit in a Facebook post on Monday, September 23, stating that he has been in “consistent communication with senior officers within the Police hierarchy regarding my whereabouts and availability.”
“In light of these developments, I have instructed my lawyers to urgently engage with the Ghana Police Service to seek clarification on which specific police station or office they wish me to report to. My legal team stands ready to cooperate and will be in touch with the relevant authorities to ascertain the appropriate steps required. he continued.
