Frank Annoh Dompre, the majority chief whip, has reaffirmed his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) super delegate convention.
He expressed his desire to support a candidate who can effect unparalleled change for the party’s history as well as for the nation and to be a part of history.
“I want to make history and be a part of that history,” he said, “and if I have proof that there is a particular candidate among the lot who can make that history, I cannot hold on to a ledge.”
On Monday, the Whip spoke to the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) about questions about his impartiality as a member of the Majority leadership in Parliament.
He clarified that the chief whip’s primary responsibility is to maintain order and the smooth running of government operations.
However, he emphasized that despite his position, he is still capable of identifying a candidate who can assist the party in ending its eight-year streak of being in power.
The significance of the super delegates conference and the representation it provides were stressed by Annoh Dompreh Dompre, who said, “Representation is logical democracy everywhere in the world and that is how it works.”
He mentioned his prior successes and how the public’s faith in him was demonstrated by the fact that he received a sizable amount of delegate support in earlier primaries.
He emphasized the importance of MPs and polling place managers in the party’s decision-making, saying that their backing of a certain candidate is an indication of the general mood.
He confidently predicted that the results of the super delegate conference would serve as a lead-up to the elections in November and expressed hope for a call of congratulations.
