There was no indication that either aircraft had any illegal chemicals, according to Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

The statement stated that the Swissport firm handled the ground handling services for the arriving aircraft, while Aviation Security and National Security handled all security checks.

“Management’s attention has been drawn to media publications making false allegations regarding the involvement of the Company officials in passing false information to one Reverend Ntim Fodjour, who made allegations of drug trafficking regarding two aircraft landing at Kotoka International Airport some weeks ago,” the Airports Company said in a statement released in Accra.

“GACL does not issue landing permits for all aircraft entering Ghana; rather, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and the National Security do,” the statement said.

Its managing director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has never met or spoken to Rev. Ntim Fordjour, according to the statement.

“The onus is on the groups or individuals making false allegations to provide evidence of same,” it added.

It stated that the Airports Company would not think twice about pursuing legal action against any media outlet, person, or other organization for any deliberate or naughty publication of Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s untrue accusations and associated issues that aimed to damage the company’s, its managing director’s, or the government’s reputation in relation to the two aircraft.

It pleaded with the people of Ghana to treat these false and vicious claims and publications with the disdain they merit.
