The Western North Region has achieved an active membership of 406,304, representing 63.7 percent of its targeted 637,638, as of the end of the second quarter.
The Region also mobilized 64.45 percent of its flexed revenue for the period under review.
This was disclosed by the Regional Director, Gordon Amoh-Boahen, during the Mid-Year Review Meeting held at Sefwi Wiawso. While acknowledging that the figures are quite impressive, Mr. Amoh-Boahen emphasized the need for continued efforts to meet the annual targets, which are crucial for achieving Universal Health Coverage in the Region.
He urged the districts to work diligently, particularly in the area of indigent registration. He noted that if the region could meet its annual indigent target of 131,354, it would be on track to attain 80 percent active membership of the regional population.
Mr. Amoh-Boahen assured the districts that the regional office is aware of the challenges they face and is working in collaboration with the Head Office to address them. He disclosed that the Regional Office is in communication with the Head Office regarding the commissioning of the newly constructed Juaboso District Office. He also expressed gratitude to Executive Management for addressing the staffing issues in that office.
The Regional Director took the opportunity to thank the Akontombra District Assembly for constructing an office for the NHIA in the district.
During the meeting, various districts made presentations, which were followed by peer critiques aimed at learning best practices from each other to help achieve their targets on the various indicators.
