A strategic collaboration has been established between Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a prominent trash management company under the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), and Kenya in an effort to expand its waste management offerings across Africa.
The collaboration between Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Mombasa is anticipated to stimulate job creation, economic expansion, and environmental sustainability in the area.
During a working visit to Mombasa, Kenya, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, led a group and had high-level talks with H.E. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, the Governor of Mombasa County.
The goal of the conference was to strengthen Mombasa’s and Zoomlion Ghana Limited’s relationship in order to improve the region’s sustainable garbage management.
According to a statement released by the corporation, the cooperation will, among other things, focus on addressing sanitation issues and generating economic opportunities for Mombasa’s local populations.
“Our mission is to turn Africa’s sanitation challenges into engines of opportunity and growth. Africa is ready, and Mombasa is a key partner in this transformative agenda,” Dr. Agyepong said.
In addition to growth, he said, Zoomlion’s entry into Kenya is “about sharing our experience, building local capacity, and supporting African-led development.”
Together, we can reimagine the future of waste management on the continent,” he reiterated.
Governor Nassir acknowledged Zoomlion’s established track record around the continent and greeted the Jospong delegation, expressing a significant interest in working with them.
He emphasized the necessity of workable solutions that would have an instant impact and establish the groundwork for long-term environmental resilience.
Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, welcomed Dr. Siaw Agyepong to the Ministry’s Nairobi offices.
Zoomlion’s Africa Expansion Project included this conference, which sought to investigate cutting-edge waste management options specific to Kenya’s requirements.
Zoomlion’s vast experience in integrated waste management was demonstrated by Dr. Agyepong, who also highlighted the company’s influence in Ghana and other African nations as well as its expanding footprint in Asia.
Dr. Barasa, for his part, declared his strong interest in the Jospong model and reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to collaborations that promote the shift to a circular economy and green growth.
She emphasized how important private sector innovation is to solving Kenya’s environmental problems.
A technical follow-up meeting with the Ministry and Kenya’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) was agreed upon at the end of the meeting.
Examining how the Jospong model might complement Kenya’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework and more general environmental objectives is the aim.
The conference was attended by important Ministry players, such as Ms. Linah Meeme, Head of Legal Affairs, and Mr. Njoroge Mbitu, Deputy Director for Waste Management and Pollution Control. Jospong is still dedicated to offering scalable African solutions for the environmental future of the continent.
In other nations on the continent, Jospong Group has already progressed operations through Zoomlion Ghana Limited, effectively implementing scalable waste management systems, generating employment, and advancing a circular economy.
Through innovative, sustainable, and inclusive business methods, the Jospong Group, which has more than 60 businesses operating in several sectors, continues to promote African excellence.
