Each of the 16 New Patriotic Party thugs who broke into UTV’s studios on October 7, 2023, was fined GHS2400.
They were all found guilty by the Achimota Court. They were accused of rioting and criminal conspiracy. To the charges, they all entered guilty pleas.
Thugs during the invasion at UTV
They wanted information on the whereabouts of A Plus, one of the panelists, during the invasion. During the raid, the thugs complained to the channel that an entertainment program had turned into a political show and wanted representation on it. They were led by the NPP’s Klottey Korle Youth Organiser.
The invasion was denounced by the Ghana Journalists Association, National Media Commission, Information Ministry, and other recognized organizations.
