The ECOWAS Commission, as part of the Regional Strategy for Youth Employment in Agricultural Value Chains, has donated two million two hundred thirty-eight thousand US dollars (2,238,000 US dollars) to ten (10) agricultural research centers in the region in Porto Novo, Republic of Benin, in an effort to reduce youth unemployment in the area.

40% of the 3,850 youths who will receive training thanks to the award are women.

The checks were delivered by the ECOWAS Commission’s Commissioner of Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Mrs. Massandjé TOURE-LITSE.

This occurred at the opening ceremony of a workshop aimed at educating and energizing the different 2024/2025 Grant recipient Centers regarding the Regional Strategy for Youth Employment in Agricultural Value Chains.

Additionally, the Songhai Center in Porto Novo works on challenges pertaining to the professional integration of young people in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and halieutic sectors.
