Former sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah’s five bank accounts have been removed by the Special Prosecutor from its list of contaminated assets.
Large sums of money were stolen from Ms. Dapaah’s private property in Abelemkpe, Accra, in July 2023, prompting the office of the special prosecutor to start an inquiry into possible corruption and crimes related to corruption involving her.
To aid with the investigations, the special prosecutor took action, including issuing a freezing order regarding Ms. Dapaah’s bank accounts and other financial assets.
A statement by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng on Monday, October 16, 2023 read, “Subsequently, the investigations have eliminated five of Ms. Dapaah’s bank accounts from suspicion of being tanited property.”
Additionally, the special prosecutor declared that it had “revoked the freezing order in respect of Ms. Dapaah’s eliminated five bank accounts.” Yet “the freezing order is still in place and effect in respect of the other bank accounts and financial assets of Ms Dapaah” , stated the OSP.
