Eighty-two (82) disgruntled police officers have filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General (first defendant), the Ghana Police Service (second defendant), and the Inspector General of Police (third defendant) for acting arbitrarily and unfairly in relation to the Service’s failure to promote them following the completion of their studies under the study leave with pay policy.

The police officers claimed in a lawsuit filed in the High Court of Accra that although they had been given study leave for the 2017–2018 academic year and had finished their studies well, the Ghana Police Service had refused to promote them or admit them to the Police College.

These policemen claim that despite alerting the police and asking the service to promote them, they have been turned down while other officers in comparable situations have received promotions.

The disgruntled officers have asked the court to order the Police Service to offer fast promotions to those of them who are eligible and to allow them all to enroll in the Police College/Academy without further delay.
