37 new High Court justices were sworn in by President John Dramani Mahama, who urged them to preserve justice, honesty, and equity in their work.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the ceremony was held in the Jubilee House in Accra.

President Mahama reminded the judges in his speech of their vital role in maintaining public trust in the legal system.

He urged them to maintain their objectivity, enforce the law fearlessly and equitably, and defend the liberties and rights of every citizen.

“The effective administration of justice is central to Ghana’s democracy and economic stability,” stated President Mahama.

He underlined that preserving peace and advancing national development depended heavily on the independence and professionalism of the judiciary.

The President also praised Ghana’s court for its steadfast dedication to inclusiveness and gender parity.

He characterised it as an affirmative action paradigm that other branches of government ought to follow.

He said, “Even though I am the appointing authority, I want to commend the judiciary when it comes to affirmative action and gender. You are doing far better than the executive.”

President Mahama pointed out that there was a notable presence of women in recent judicial appointments, such as those to the Court of Appeal.

“A short while ago, we swore in Appeal Court judges, and a good number almost the majority were women. Again, I see that women are well represented here in this batch of High Court judges,” he remarked.

Emphasising that their acts will shape public trust in the court and enhance the foundations of Ghana’s democracy, he thanked the new judges and urged them to serve with devotion and impartiality. ‎
