Galamsey won’t stop until the government takes care of the kingpins – Senyo Hosi

The One Ghana Movement’s Convenor, Senyo Hosi, has urged President John Mahama to name the main players engaged in illicit mining, cautioning that attempts to stop galamsey will be unsuccessful if the kingpins are not targeted.

“I want to commend His Excellency the president for the work they are doing on galamsey, but where are the kingpins? Where are the kingpins, Your Excellency?” Hosi made a complaint on Citi FM’s The Big Issue.

Although the president had ordered officials to free small-scale miners, he pointed out that the main offenders still needed to be the focus.

“He came and said that the small boys should not be caught, we should release the small boys, but it is the kingpins we should go after and I agree with him,” Hosi remarked.

Hosi claims that the lack of action against the kingpins is a serious worry nearly ten months into the government’s anti-galamsey effort.

“If after ten months we are not reminding him of the kingpins, then we have a problem. We need the kingpins. Without dealing with the kingpins, galamsey is not going anywhere,” he continued.
