Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a renowned heart surgeon and former minister of environment, science, technology, and innovation, was detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and released on GH2M bond.
He was taken into custody in relation to an ongoing investigation into the activities of the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), which he served as chair of. The Professor had previously been invited by the OSP, which led to his subsequent imprisonment.
