At the invitation of the Jamaican government, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), Minister of Foreign Affairs, is in Jamaica for a two-day official and solidarity visit.

In order to assist with post-disaster reconstruction operations following Hurricane Melissa, the Minister is anticipated to engage with Ghanaian military soldiers stationed in Jamaica.

For the previous six weeks, the troops have been helping with reconstruction.

The Minister will deliver a message from His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, to the staff.

The Honourable Minister and His Excellency Andrew Holness, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, will have bilateral talks on issues of shared interest, such as bolstering Ghanaian-Jamaican relations.

The Presidential Special Envoy to the Caribbean, His Excellency Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence K. S. Gbetanu, senior military officers, and directors from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education, and Health are among the delegation’s members.

The visit highlights the long-standing historical connections between the two nations.
