Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has expressed his gratitude to the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s membership for its support throughout the years.
Dr. Bawumia described how, by grace, he ended up at the Bank of Ghana as Deputy Governor after growing up in Tamale, attending Sakaka Primary, enrolling in Tamale Secondary, and continuing on to Oxford University.
He addressed the party’s thronging supporters on Friday, June 16, 2023, following the submission of his presidential candidacy form at the party headquarters in Accra. “I thank God for how far he has brought me,” he said.
Speaking to his crazed party members, Dr. Bawumia pledged to turn the nation’s fortunes around while in office.
He declared his desire to build on the solid foundation currently being maintained by the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“I think it’s time to build on the foundations we’ve already laid in order to take Ghana to the next level… I have a vision for Ghana, and with your help, I want to see it become a place where we use technology, data, and systems to promote equitable economic growth, he proclaimed.
“I want to make Ghana the digital hub of Africa,” he continued. “I want us to close the digital divide and transform industries like healthcare, education, and public service delivery using digital technology and artificial intelligence,” he said.
He emphasized once more his 22-year service and steadfast commitment to Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Over the last 22 years, I have worked hard with you for the NPP and for Ghana, from during the Kufuor era as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, through our years in opposition, and now in government,” he said.
“Throughout this time, I have made sacrifices for the party and have consistently stood up for it in both easy and difficult circumstances. Never! And I have established a strong track record of performance as Vice President, remaining steadfastly committed to our party and the administration in good times and bad, he continued.
