Chris Hughton, the coach of the Black Stars, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the result of the game against Madagascar.

In the AFCON qualifying match on Sunday at the Berea stadium in Antananarivo, Madagascar held the Black Stars to a scoreless draw.

Ghana needed to win in order to advance to the next round of the competition in Cote D’Ivoire, but the Malagasy put up a valiant effort to prevent that from happening.

In his post-game presser, coach Chris Hughtonrue cited lost opportunities and insisted that his team’s inability to score was extremely upsetting.

There are no simple games on the continent, so the game was difficult, just like every other game. Even in the first half, we controlled a lot of the ball, but scoring was still necessary to alter the game’s flow.

The longer the game goes on without you scoring, the more motivation Madagascar receives. We needed to score at any point to shift the mood of the game since they were playing in front of the home crowd, who were encouraging them and giving them more confidence.

It’s really challenging to win games when you can’t produce enough clear-cut chances, despite having a lot of possession.

We are, indeed, quite disappointed. We came in with the mindset and attitude to win, but in order to win a football game, goals must be scored. Today was terrible for us.

The fact that we didn’t score is the most discouraging thing because the pitch was challenging and uneven, but it was the same for all sides, and we needed to be aggressive in the crucial areas to increase our chances of scoring.

Ghana must now defeat Central African Republic in its final match in September to secure a spot in the AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.
